Blacksmith Fork Canyon Couples Photoshoot- Wedding Photographer- Hyrum UT

A steep hike is always worth it- especially when the valley creates a haze. This romantic shoot was a dream- and Riley & Tanner pulled it all together. As a photographer who’s grown up near Blacksmith Fork Canyon, I know a lot of lesser known spots that make for gorgeous photos.

Some word of advice for having your photographer take you on a hike for photos and what to expect:

• Bring a different pair of shoes- have your hiking shoes and a pair that you want your photos in! You don’t want to be hiking up a mountain in heels, or in your nice shoes in case they get dirty.
• Know before how long and how hard the hike will be. This hike is only about 10 minutes up, but there are some steep spots. Since I knew this one wasn’t bad, the couple is fine to dress in their formal clothes. However, if you’re interested in doing a more intermediate, longer trail, I suggest bringing a change of clothes as well!
• You can expect me to take a healthy amount of breaks up the hill. For pictures, and also because I need to catch my breath, hah.
• Don’t forget water!

What I love about adding hiking to your photoshoot, is it not only becomes an adventure for you and your sweetheart, but you get to have a unique location that others aren’t willing to work for. Even though this spot is 10 minutes up, I have never seen another photographer up here, and never seen others post photos from this spot. If you’re looking for engagement, couple, bridal, or wedding photos in a unique location, hike for it.

Blacksmith Fork Canyon is a hidden gem in Cache Valley, Utah. There are plenty of spots to explore if you want an outdoorsy, mountain feel for your photography! And aren’t these photos so dreamlike?? Having a beautiful overlook for your photos takes them to the next level. It feels surreal.
