As a Cache Valley photographer based out of the Hyrum Utah area, I never have to run out of beautiful spots. This is one of my favorite hidden gems to do photography at. I live for playful couple shoots like this!

During the wintertime, I’ve found shoots generally slow down because it’s cold, or people don’t feel like there is spots worth visiting.

Well let me tell you, there are places worth visiting and dressing for winter shoots can be a lot of fun!

Here’s some tips I’ve put together for dressing for your winter shoot.

Wear solid colors or minimal, simple patterns (avoid tiny stripes or polka-dots and busy patterns)
Wear a variety of textures (fur is great in the winter) but stuff like lace, beaded materials, or just different materials!
Wear layers and make sure you have shoes you can feel comfortable walking in snow with
I even recommend bringing an extra pair of socks for the drive home. Even with good boots, snow can sometimes sneak in.
Sneak handwarmers in your pocket, it keeps your hands from turning purple!
Bring a blanket for a fun prop or to keep you warm through the shoot
Let yourself get some new clothes if you’re not confident in what you have for winter photos! Roolee and MoxieMae are some cute local boutiques, or I love to just search thrift stores too.

Don’t let wintertime discourage you from photos! Photos can be so playful and fun, despite if it’s a little cold. Hyrum Utah and the Cache Valley area are notorious for some cold winters, but photography here can be absolutely gorgeous. Contact me to book a shoot!
