Moab is the perfect destination for any kind of photography need. Elopements, weddings, engagements, or fun couple shoots like are worth the travel! These photos were taken at Dead Horse Point State Park, which is a spot I definitely recommend! Not only is it an easy meet up point, but there is so much variety and it’s all a two minute walk away. As a photographer familiar with Dead Horse Point, I recommend it for any shoot.
This state park is about 40 minutes away from Moab and Arches National Park, and about 20 minutes from Canyonlands. Since it is a state park, there is a fee unless you have a State Park Pass. (Which if you don’t have one, get one! State parks are not only great photo locations, but can be fun date ideas or weekend travel plans) You can purchase a Utah State Park Pass at this link. Totally worth the cost in my opinion. After going a few times, it will pay off itself.
One thing to know about doing photography at Dead Horse State Park is there isn’t very good service. I think I had one bar, but if we climbed to a higher point, I could get maybe two or three. Just plan your meeting spot in advance or meet somewhere with good service beforehand. (That way you can both get in with one state park pass anyways!) However, the visitor center is a great meeting point.
Being a photographer at Dead Horse Point State Park is a magical thing. The landscape and the views are stunning. And it’s accessible. From the visitors parking area, we walked about one minute away to get these photos! Because of that it’s a great way to utilize all the light and time you have to create some memories together.
